January Boating

We endured our obligatory 3 weeks of cold weather (55 degrees for a high temperature was NOT good!!!) and now we're back to the normal stuff. Boating weather. Biking weather. Picnic weather!
Steve's dad and his wife were in town, so we rounded up Stormy and Shay and we all took sandwiches out on the big boat.

There were several other boaters out there, but none in our favorite spot, Solitude Cove. We like to park and enjoy the.....solitude...

What a perfect day.

When the gulls found out that Shay had Doritos, they began their assault:

We went to Copper Canyon, which looks somewhat like Sodom and Gamorrah during the warmer summer months. During the winter it's a ghost town. Oh and speaking of ghosts....

We discovered a memorial set high up on some rocks in Copper Canyon. It's difficult to see it, it is a surf board with a white wooden cross.
Last summer a pro-surfer jumped from the rocks into the water and ended up drowning. Apparently some friends erected a memorial. It is on Indian owned land and will likely be removed in a short period of time.

We spent about three hours out on the water, just enough time to soak up some sun and explore some coves. That will likely be the last chance we have for that kind of fun for a little while, January and February are very busy months.
