Puttin It Out There

It's what you do at the truck stop.

I Love Garlic

Besides cheese, onions, and tomato sauce, there is one ingredient that I could honestly add to any meal. It is garlic.

And when we travel between Arizona and California's farmlands, I can usually spot a truckload of the garlicky delightfulness from about a mile away.

Here it is...

Mr. Harrah, Mr. Harrah

We took a trip to deliver a car to Steve's boss over in California. But, I've been out of the loop, so to speak. I didn't know that the boss man was having a car museum built for his collection.
And since he's going to sell one of his businesses in Santa Ana, he's going to need his very own recording studio as well as meeting facilities.

Introducing...
The Michael F. Harrah Museum, recording studio, and meeting room....

There are a few more cars to put in the museum, Steve said he's delivering them next week.
But I tried out the recording studio--there's a huge gong that I couldn't stop striking. And a chime thing that makes the noise you hear when an angel appears.

Nobody could hear me, because the studio's sound-proofed. Cool!

I Saw This

I took so many photos during my trip to DC that I knew I'd have to show them off over a period of about a year. So many things were significant to me--I am sure poor Becky who accompanied me on my of my adventures must've thought I was a loonie.
In fact, the photo at the top of this site right now is the fountain in front of the U.S. Capitol Building, and Becky is down on the right taking a picture with her camera.

She was with me when I went to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and she endured all my moments where I grabbed my head with both hands and hissed, "Oh my GOD I can't believe I'm seeing this!!"

Tonight Apollo 13 was on HBO, and I can't not watch it. I can't. It is an amazing piece of American history and the story is told with very very few dramatic embellishments.

So when I saw this display over in a corner of the museum, I did that head-grab thing. Gene Kranz, the flight director for Apollo 13 and many other space missions, wore a specially made vest for each mission. His wife sewed them. For Apollo 13, he wore a white vest, and it is in the movie. And here is the actual vest:

Then there's Gus Grissom. He was one of the original astronauts. He died in the accident with the Apollo capsule that caught fire.
This is his flight suit:

This is an actual Apollo Space Capsule. It is enclosed in glass:

Ron Doesn't Hate Me

Well I never thought that in the first place, but it turns out I misunderstood. He was kind enough to explain what happened last week--and truthfully he didn't have to.

Now I can continue to focus my self-consciousness on other things!
